Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Music, Community and Connection

Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Music, Community and Connection

As we close the curtain on 2024, we’re reflecting on an incredible year of connection, creativity and inspiration. From events that brought our community together to exciting new initiatives, this year has been one to remember. Here are some of the highlights for Simply for Strings in 2024.

Larsen String Visit (March)

In March, we had the honour of welcoming Dr. Thomas Zweig from Larsen Strings to our beloved store. Dr. Zweig’s expertise and passion for string instruments inspired our community to explore the endless possibilities of sound optimisation.

Musicians had the opportunity to participate in one-on-one Sound Optimisation Sessions, uncovering ways to enhance their instruments’ performance with tailored string solutions.

Behind the Sound for QSO (May)

In May, we partnered with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra to present our Behind the Sound pop-up during their Symphony Fantastique concert. Behind the Sound offers concert-goers a chance to observe, explore and discover the inner workings of a luthier’s workshop.

From re-stringing to sound post adjustments, our team demonstrated the craftsmanship and care that go into making and maintaining string instruments.

On the Road: Mt Isa Visit (June)

In June, our team traveled to Mount Isa, continuing our mission to bring music to regional communities. Danny and Jacqui dedicated a week to servicing nearly 50 instruments, conducting workshops, and sharing the joy of music through kindergarten story-times and repertoire reading sessions.

Our Mt Isa visit was a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of music education in regional areas.

Simply for Strings Rewards Program (August)

August marked the launch of our new and improved Rewards Program! Inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, this program is a celebration of our vibrant community and their personal musical journeys.

With stunning artwork of our Old Church through the seasons by Kim Stockert, the rewards program offers a meaningful way to connect and give back to our loyal customers. It’s been a joy to see so many of you join this exciting new program!

Master Made Exhibition (September)

In September, we hosted our first Master Made Exhibition, showcasing an extraordinary collection of fine instruments and bows crafted by world-renowned luthiers and archetiers.

The opening night featured a breathtaking performance by Ensemble Cherubim, bringing these beautiful instruments to life. Partnering with the Sydney String Centre, we provided the Brisbane string community with a rare opportunity to trial and purchase these exquisite instruments.

We are excited to continue this partnership with the Sydney String Centre by showcasing a small collection of instruments from the Master Made Collection all year round.

Gardening Club

This year, the Simply for Strings Gardening Club brought new life to our outdoor spaces. Led by Anna and Mel, the team transformed the veggie patch into a thriving source of fresh produce, including a hearty crop of potatoes!

The flower beds along our picket fence also got a colourful makeover, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. These efforts reflect the heart of our team, nurturing growth and finding beauty in every detail.

Looking Ahead

As we wrap up an incredible year, we want to thank you for being part of the Simply for Strings community. Whether you joined us at an event, tried our new rewards program, or simply stopped by for a visit, you’ve made 2024 truly special.

We’re excited for what’s to come in 2025 and can’t wait to continue this journey with you. Here’s to another year of music, connection, and inspiration!
